Lakes and Streams
Fishing is permitted in both Ogle Lake (17 acres) and Strahl Lake (7 acres), as well as in the park’s streams. These water bodies are home to a variety of fish species, making them a prime destination for fishing enthusiasts.
Fishing License
To fish in Brown County State Park, a valid State Fishing License is required. Licenses can be purchased at the Park Office, ensuring you are in compliance with local regulations.
DNR Lake Permit
In addition to the fishing license, a DNR Lake Permit is necessary for boating on Ogle Lake. This permit can be obtained at the Park Office and costs $5 per year.
Boat Rentals and Lake Access
Boat Rentals
Unfortunately, there are no boat rental services available within Brown County State Park. Visitors must bring their own non-motorized boats, such as canoes, kayaks, or rowboats, or boats equipped with electric trolling motors.
Boat Ramp
The park does not have a designated boat ramp, so you will need to manually launch your boat into the water.
Lake Access
Ogle Lake allows non-motorized boats and boats with electric trolling motors, while Strahl Lake is not accessible to boats.

It’s important to note that RVs and vehicles towing trailers must use the West Gate Entrance, off S.R. 46, west of Nashville. The North Gate Covered Bridge has a 9-foot height clearance and a 3-ton weight limit, so larger vehicles should avoid this entrance. Horsemen’s Campground users should use the entrance off 135 South.
