Wawona Stable: Discover Yosemite’s Wagon Road and Meadows
Wawona Stable, open seasonally from May to September, provides easy trail rides ranging from two hours to half-day excursions. Primarily using mules for their sure-footedness on the trails, the two-hour ride takes visitors on a historical journey along the wagon road, offering stunning views of the Wawona Hotel, Wawona Meadow Loop, a former Miwok encampment, Wawona Dome, and the surrounding lush forest.
Yosemite Trails Horseback Adventures: Ride to the Mariposa Grove
Yosemite Trails Horseback Adventures offers one and two-hour horseback trail rides, as well as an exclusive day ride to Yosemite’s Mariposa Grove. These rides provide a glimpse into the park’s past and the opportunity to see the Grizzly Giant, one of the world’s largest giant sequoia trees.
Rates and Reservations
The two-hour ride at Wawona Stable costs $85 per person. Reservations can be made online by selecting “Wawona Stable Rides” in the dropdown menu. Visitors are advised to arrive one hour prior to the ride departure time.
Age and Weight Restrictions
At Wawona Stable, children must be at least 7 years old, weigh at least 55 pounds, and be at least 52″ tall to participate in horseback riding. The maximum rider weight is 225 lbs.

Wawona Stable offers gentle horse rides around the corral for individuals with special needs, after consultation with their staff.
Horse Boarding and Dog Kennel
Horse boarding is available at the Yosemite Valley Stable, but it is closed for the 2024 season. Reservations are highly recommended due to limited space, and specific documentation is required.
The Dog Kennel is available at Yosemite Valley Stable from June to September. Advance reservations are highly recommended, and the cost is $10/daily and $20/overnight per dog.
