When Is Zion National Park Open?

Zion National Park is open all year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Zion Canyon Visitor Center and Kolob Canyon Visitor Center have varying hours throughout the year, with the Zion Canyon Visitor Center open daily except for December 25th, and the Kolob Canyon Visitor Center open daily except for December 25th. The Zion Shuttle System operates from early morning to late evening during the spring, summer, and fall, while the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is regularly closed from mid-March to late October and on weekends in November.

Zion Canyon Visitor Center Hours

  • Summer (May to September): 8 am to 8 pm
  • Fall (October to November): 8 am to 6 pm
  • Winter (December to February): 8 am to 5 pm
  • Spring (March to April): 8 am to 5 pm

Kolob Canyon Visitor Center Hours

When Is Zion National Park Open

  • Spring and Summer (March to October): 8 am to 5 pm
  • Fall and Winter (November to February): 8 am to 4:30 pm

Zion Shuttle System Operation

The Zion Shuttle System operates from early morning to late evening during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. During the winter, when the shuttle system is not running, the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is open to general traffic.

Zion Canyon Scenic Drive Closure

The Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is regularly closed from mid-March to late October and on weekends in November, starting at the junction with Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway and ending at the terminus at Temple of Sinawava.

Kolob Terrace Road Closure

Kolob Terrace Road can be closed in winter due to snow and ice. During this time, the road is open to snowmobilers, skiers, and hikers.

Campground Availability

  • Watchman Campground: Open year-round, with reservations available from March to November.
  • South Campground: Open during the busy season, from March to November.
  • Lava Point Campground: Open from June through October, depending on weather.
